Part of the Viera race and thus much older than the rest of the cast, Fran is proficient with a variety of weapons, yet prefers to use Bows. She and Balthier have a long history of Sky Pirating, and have been equal partners for years.

Fran's hometown is Eruyt Village—a small enclave of Viera in Golmore Jungle. She left the village and cast aside the Wood 50 years prior to the events in the game, believing that just because her kind began with the forest, they shouldn't be confined to it. After leaving the village, however, Viera are not permitted to return and thus, Fran also left behind her two sisters, Mjrn and Jote, when making her choice to do so.

Like all Viera, Fran is highly susceptible to the Mist that permeates Ivalice, and at times is driven into a state of rage when its power becomes too strong.

Her voice is very distinct, and has a mysterious, raspy tone to it. It's a joy to listen to throughout the game.

In the end, along with Balthier, Fran has a close call with death while making mechanical repairs on the Sky Fortress Bahamut as it's falling/crashing toward Rabanastre below it.
